WATFORD ASSOCIATION OF MAGICIANS RULES

1. The Association shall be known as the WATFORD ASSOCIATION OF MAGICIANS (W.A.M.).

2. Objective: The objective of the association is to further the art of magic by holding social,
instructional and training meetings on a regular basis.

3. Membership: W.A.M. welcomes members aged 16 or over. The membership will consist of Ordinary (Full) members and Honorary members and friends of WAM. Any person with a positive interest in magic may apply to become a member or Friend. Application must be made on an official form and the applicant must be proposed by a member. Applications will be subject to the approval of the committee which may request that the applicant perform an audition.

4. Member Undertakings: Members undertake not to reveal the secrets of magic to any other than another magician. Members undertake not to copy another magician's performance without the permission of that magician.

5. Membership Privileges: After an initial interview Members will be entitled to participate in all Association activities, to receive copies of the magazine, to borrow books from the library and to use the Association's name on letter headings and advertising. Honorary members are entitled to full use of the Association's facilities.

6. Subscriptions: The annual subscription will be decided by the Annual General Meeting. This subscription is due on the 1st of June of each year.

7. Administration: The Association will be administered by the following officials: Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer. These officials will be elected by ballot each year at the Annual General Meeting. Duration of office will be 12 months or until the officers successors are elected. The committee will consist of the aforementioned officers and up to six other members. The committee will be empowered to appoint
a Vice-chairperson. In the event that any committee members resign, the committee may invite replacements onto the committee providing that the number of non-elected committee members do not exceed two people in any 12 month period prior to an AGM.

8. President: The Annual General Meeting is empowered to elect an Honorary President to represent the Association in the world of magic.

9. General Meetings: The Annual General Meeting will be held in May and the agenda will include reports by the Secretary and the Treasurer who will present an audited Balance Sheet. Starting with year ending 2006, WAM accounts shall be prepared for a financial year running 1st April to 31st March. Any items for the A.G.M. must be submitted to the Secretary, with the names of the proposer and seconder, at least three weeks before the meeting. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called at the request of fifteen members of the paid up members or at the order of the Committee.

10. Quorums: A quorum for an A.G.M. shall be at least half of the paid up membership, and that for a Committee Meeting shall be five.

11. Visitors: Visitors may only be admitted to closed meetings by consent of the Chair or, in the Chair's absence, by a Committee Member. Visitors are not permitted to sell merchandise in the clubroom and members should seek the permission of the Chair (or acting Chair) before doing so.

12. Expulsion: Any infringement of these rules or conduct detrimental to the Association's good name will render the member liable to expulsion. The Committee's decision is final.

No alteration or addition to these rules may be made except with the consent of at least two-thirds of the members present at a General Meeting, notice of the alteration(s) having been submitted to the Secretary at least seven days prior to the Meeting.
